Starting Young Horses on the Road to Success

Har-Lynn Farms specializes in the care of young horses destined for competitive careers, whether that career is as a race horse, high performance dressage horse or show jumper. We provide youngsters have ample space and time for play, but with the daily handling and attention that ensures they'll be well-prepared for the life they'll lead in the competitive world.

We accept horses as young as weanlings and all young horses are provided with large, 13x13 stalls and daily turn-out in large, grass pastures. Our management of young horses also includes daily handling and work with the youngsters to ensure that they can calmly handle the care they'll receive as a high performance competitor, including grooming/clipping, bathing, bandaging and trailering.

In addition to the main farm, Har-Lynn Farms also has a training facility, located 10 minutes away. Our separate training center allows us to give young horses the experience of leaving their "herd", loading up in the trailer, traveling 10 minutes down, unloading into an unfamiliar barn and then doing a bit of work in the indoor or outdoor ring before heading back home. The two facilities allow us to initiate young horses very early to the competitive lifestyle and yet control the environment at both the youngster's "home" barn and away "show" barn.

Har-Lynn Farms also provides sales prep services and break-ins. Our sales prep services aim to make young horses more manageable and better behaved in the sales ring. Our break-in services give youngsters a solid foundation under saddle in order to prepare them for the next stage of training, whether as a race horse or as a high performance dressage horse or show jumper.

Sales Prep and Break-in Services

Har-Lynn Farms provides sales prep and break-in services for young race horses and youngsters bred for high performance careers in eventing, show jumping and dressage. Our sales prep services aim to make young horses more manageable and better behaved in the sales ring. Our break-in services give youngsters a solid foundation under saddle that will prepare them for the more specialized training they'll receive as race horses, eventers, show jumpers and dressage horses.

A key part of our break-in program is to help young horses make a smooth transition from the life a young horse to that of a competitor in training. For many horses, the change from a life of freedom and play in the pasture to one of serious training is both physically and mentally stressful. Our program eases them into the change. Our sales prep and break-in services include working with the youngsters to ensure that they can calmly handle the care they'll receive as a high performance competitor, including grooming/clipping, bathing, bandaging and trailering.
